Evaluating Ethylene Sensitivity and Exogenous Ethylene Impact on Early Growth of Grafted and Nongrafted Tomato Seedlings

چکیده

Ethylene sensitivity of grafted and nongrafted tomato ( Solanum lycopersicum ) seedlings with three to four true leaves was examined. The concentration exogenous ethylene that produced symptoms between 1 10 µL?L –1 regardless grafting. Symptoms exposure included leaf epinasty, decreased maximal photochemical quantum yield photosystem II F v / m ), increased plant height (nongrafted only). Grafted plants maintained higher than in response concentrations. Ethylene-damaged showed comparable growth the control 3 weeks after transplanting, but transplant quality diminished as a result at high

Ethylene and the growth of rice seedlings.

Etiolated whole rice seedlings enclosed in sealed vials produced ethylene at a rate of 0.9 picomole per hour per seedling. When 2-centimeter-long shoots were subdivided into 5-millimeter-long sections, the sections containing the tip of the shoot evolved 37% of the total ethylene with the remaining 63% being produced along a gradient decreasing to the base of the shoot. The tip of the coleoptil...

Comparison of Plant Growth Regulators and Exogenous Ethylene Effects on Two Types of Cut Carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus L.)

The main object of this study is to investigate the effect of plant growth regulators on the prolongation of vase life of two kinds of cut carnation under normal and ethylene. Carnation is one of the most popular flowers that has a short life due to its sensitivity to ethylene. Also, the effect of plant growth regulators on several physiological traits under ethylene stress and normal condition...

Ethylene receptors and molecular mechanism of ethylene sensitivity in plants

A short post-harvest longevity remains a major limiting factor for many crops. Separation from plant leads quickly to ripening of fruits and senescence of flowers. In many species, ripening and senescence are ethyleneregulated. Thus, attempts have been made to retard the post-harvest processes by applying chemicals that inhibit ethylene synthesis. The long-term solution will probably be based o...

Stress - induced Ethylene Production in the Ethylene - requiring Tomato Mutant

Ethylene synthesis in vegetative tisues is thought to be controlled by indoleacetic acid (IAA). However, ethylene synthesis in the diageotropka (dgt) mutant of tomato (Ly mkoaesc MIlL) was much less sensitive to IAA than In the norml variety (VFNS). Yet, mehanial wounding stimuted ethyne production by the mutant. The dgt tomato provides an opportunity to study the regulation of stress ethylene ...

Nitric Oxide, Ethylene, and Auxin Cross Talk Mediates Greening and Plastid Development in Deetiolating Tomato Seedlings.

The transition from etiolated to green seedlings involves the conversion of etioplasts into mature chloroplasts via a multifaceted, light-driven process comprising multiple, tightly coordinated signaling networks. Here, we demonstrate that light-induced greening and chloroplast differentiation in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) seedlings are mediated by an intricate cross talk among phytochromes,...
